El Dorado Transit will be operating the Apple Farms Shuttle on Saturdays and Sundays in October from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Free parking will be available at 2796 Larsen Drive in Camino.

It’s almost October and we all know what that means in the eastern part of El Dorado County: Apples, donuts, pies, cider, pumpkins, hay rides and all kinds of fun for everyone in and around Camino. But sometimes all that fun comes with a little too much….traffic!

To make things more enjoyable for the traveling public as well as residents in the area who see an influx of 5,000 additional cars on any given weekend day in October, we’re introducing the free Apple Farms Shuttle which will run every Saturday and Sunday in October.

Free parking for shuttle users has been made available by SMUD at the Sierra Pacific Industries parking lot, located at 2796 Larsen Drive in Camino. Motorists driving westbound on Highway 50 can take Exit 54 (Camino), turn right onto Carson Road and right onto Larsen Drive. The parking lot will be on the right. Motorists driving eastbound on Highway 50 can take Exit 54 (Cedar Grove), turn left onto Carson Road and right onto Larsen Drive.

El Dorado Transit will have four busses driving the 10.8-mile loop, leaving in 15-20-minute increments. The first Apple Farms Shuttle will depart at 9:00 am and the last will depart at 4:00 pm.

Scheduled stops include:
• High Hill Ranch/Fudge Factory Farm
• Rucksack Cellars
• Boa Vista Orchards
• Lewis Grace Winery
• Goldbud Farms
• Abel’s Apple Acres
• Lava Cap Winery
• El Dorado Orchards
• Delfino Farms
• Apple Pantry Farm/North Canyon Cider Company
• Larsen Apple Barn (Sundays only)
• Rainbow Orchards

The Apple Farms Shuttle busses hold more than 30 passengers and bikes can be loaded for the trip. The shuttle is wheelchair and handicap accessible.

The Shuttle service is funded in part by a grant from the El Dorado County Air Quality Management District with support from El Dorado County, SMUD and Sierra Pacific Industries.

This year, we’re making it easier than ever to enjoy what has become an annual pilgrimage for families in our region, the Bay Area, Nevada, and beyond. What are you waiting for? Park your car for free, hop on the Apple Farms Shuttle bus for free and leave the driving to us!
