Armed Robberies in South Lake Tahoe gets Hayward Man Convicted

[BY CATHY LOCKE] A Hayward man accused of armed robberies in South Lake Tahoe in November has been convicted by an El Dorado County jury following a three-day trial.

Adam James Sanford was found guilty of two counts of robbery, two counts of attempted robbery and four counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm. He also was convicted of special allegations of use and discharge of a firearm, and use of a deadly weapon in commission of a robbery...

On Nov. 13, Sanford approached two men in the parking lot of the CVS pharmacy at 3471 Lake Tahoe Blvd., brandished a gun and a knife, and threatened to shoot and stab the men unless they gave him money, authorities said. Sanford took a wallet from one victim and fled to the Beach Retreat Hotel at 3411 Lake Tahoe Blvd. There he brandished a gun and knife and demanded money from two other people at an art exhibit.
