Results from the 2016 election brought about new rules on the use of recreational and medicinal marijuana in several states, with more than half now allowing for the latter. California counties will get stuck with a $622-million bill as the governor cancels a healthcare pilot program

BY John Myers (Los Angeles Times)-- County officials across the state on Tuesday criticized Gov. Jerry Brown's move to cancel a program that attempted to streamline health services for seniors and low-income families, a decision that will hit locals with a $622.6-million price tag beginning this summer.

The plan, unveiled as part of Brown's state budget , seeks to cancel a 2012 program called the Coordinated Care Initiative. The effort allowed Medi-Cal, Medicare and the state's in-home support services to be offered through a single delivery system in hopes of reducing costs.

El Dorado County Update on Infrastructure Problems Due to Recent Storms

Placerville, CA – El Dorado County over the last couple of weeks has seen a significant amount of rain and snow fall. The rain and snow fall has caused infrastructure problems in the County. 
The following is an update of road closures:

* Fort Jim Road at Newtown Road - Failing drainage structure.

* Kyburz Drive - Mudslide/trees/ debris blocking drainage. Will take several days to remove. Local access available for residents.

This six-week program will be held 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. each Friday afternoon from February 24 through March 31, 2017, at the El Dorado Hills Senior Center located at 900 Lassen Lane in El Dorado Hills. 

Henningsen Lotus Park - CLOSED

(Image: Coloma Flood of 1997) Due to measurable rainfall and runoff over the weekend, the South Fork of the American River has risen substantially at Henningsen Lotus Park, causing unsafe conditions.  To ensure the safety of the public and preserve the Park's resources, the Park has been closed until further notice.  

The County Sheriff's Department is working with the Parks Division to enforce the temporary closure.  The public is urged not to enter the park.
