Newly Discovered Native Scorpion gets native Name — Pseudouroctonus Maidu

[by Enrico de Lazaro] A team of entomologists has described a new species of scorpion — Pseudouroctonus maidu — from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in northeastern California.

The newfound species belongs to the vaejovid scorpion genus Pseudouroctonus.

Placer County Teacher Arrested on Six Counts Child Molestation Charges

ROSEVILLE-- A teacher and former youth church ministries worker is accused of six counts of child molestation. Now investigators want to know if there are more accusers.

Arrested Wednesday, Roseville resident James Carroll is accused of abusing a juvenile family member in Sunnyvale from the late 1980s to 1997.

The 64-year-old has been a teacher with the Horizon Charter School’s learning center in Roseville since 2009. The school put him on leave Wednesday when they learned of the allegations against him.
