Progress Continues on the 20yd Practice Archery Range Expansion

On Monday (1/25) concrete was poured for the new extension to the 20 yd range for the El Dorado Hills Bowmen. Dennis Shaw applied his concrete finishing skills with lots of help from members Jim Frey, Eric Land, Tony Dunn Sr, Tom Grube, and Bill Peterson.

Tom Grube and Bob Scheidegger picked up and delivered the Handrails and lumber needed by Tony Dunn Sr and Erick Land to construct the stairs and install Handrails.

This is developing into a premier facility for the archery range.

Skiers giddily paying steep prices for Tahoe slopes’ fine snow

At 2 p.m. each day, high on the East Ridge Run at Northstar California, skiers and snowboarders can sail over to a staging area for a free glass of Champagne. Northstar calls it a Champagne toast, like those at high-end resorts in France.

It comes free with a standard lift ticket, which sells for an average of $106, bought online in advance, according to reservation services. Those tickets can go for a lot more at the window.

South Lake Tahoe, CA...At about 7:42 p.m Saturday, January 30th, 2016, police responded to investigate a homicide which occurred on the property of the Beverly Lodge in South Lake Tahoe (3480 South Lake Tahoe Boulevard). Upon arriving at the scene, responding Officers found a man who was shot on the ground outside of the rooms at the hotel. This victim has been identified as 40 year old Dennis Michael Wright Jr., a resident of Amador County California. Dennis Wright Jr. was shot at least once in the chest, and died of his sustained injuries at Barton Memorial Hospital. 

Blue Shield Eliminates 90 Jobs in El Dorado Hills

Blue Shield of California said Friday it has eliminated 140 jobs in El Dorado Hills and Rancho Cordova as it reconfigures its operations in the greater Sacramento area.

The cutbacks mean the health insurer employs around 1,950 workers combined at the two offices. Blue Shield also employs 30 workers at a small office in Sacramento.
