Arrest Made In Homicide of six-week-old Infant

EDSO PIO Sergeant Tasha Thompson -- On December 18, 2016, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office conducted a death investigation of a six week old infant.  During the course of the investigation it was determined the death was a homicide.  On December 29, 2016, at 3:20 pm, Michael Swope was arrested and booked into the El Dorado County Jail in connection with the death.  

The infant’s mother has been cooperating with authorities throughout the investigation and is not considered a suspect.

Boy on Bike Falls Through the Ice at Tahoe

Lake Valley Fire Protection District – On December 28, 2016, a 13 year old boy was out on the ice with his bicycle on Lake Baron at Tahoe Paradise Park. While on the ice, the front tire of his bike fell through the thinning ice and he and his bike fell completely into the water. He immediately began shouting for help. Bystanders watched from shore and quickly called 9-1-1, while Ian Whitmarsh, a visitor from Oakland, CA crawled out on to the ice to help rescue to the young boy.
