Family Horse in Shingle Springs Shot Multiple Times; Animal Control Investigating

A disturbing case of animal cruelty is being reported in El Dorado County. Red, a family horse, was shot multiple times in the span of just a few months. Now the owners want answers.

Chenoa Calhoun works for Red’s owners on their property in Shingle Springs, exercising the gentle giant almost daily.

Calhoun says the rural El Dorado County neighborhood is typically quiet and peaceful, but now she fears someone is using Red for target practice.

The first incident happened a few months ago. They found Red with an unusual puncture wound.

Pair of Sacramento Probationers Arrested for Vehicle Burglary in Placerville says PD

Placerville, CA – James Armstrong and Steve Patrick were arrested by Placerville Police Officers after breaking into vehicles in Placerville.
 
On September 15, 2016, a resident off of Barrett Drive spotted two males rummaging through his work truck at 6:40 in the morning. The resident scared off the pair, who jumped in a nearby vehicle and quickly drove off. The resident gave chase as he called the Placerville Police Department. Officers located the suspect vehicle and made a traffic stop on Spring Street north of Highway 50.

by Sonya Sorich, Sacramento Business Journal -- A pet store in the El Dorado Hills Town Center is relocating and significantly increasing its size.

After nine years in the center, Bark Avenue Pet Supplies and Grooming is moving to a Raley's-anchored shopping center on Park Drive in El Dorado Hills. Robin Mizell, who owns the business with her husband, Ken, said the new location offered room to expand.

This pet store is moving from the El Dorado Hills Town Center to a Raley's-anchored center in El Dorado Hills.

The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians is a federally-recognized Indian tribe located on the Shingle Springs Rancheria in California.

Beth A. Bodi, a member of the tribe, worked at the tribe's full-service health clinic. Bodi's employment was terminated after she attempted to take job-protected leaved under the federal Family Medical Leave Act ("FMLA"). Although she was rehired, she was fired again after sending a communication to tribal officials complaining about her earlier termination and noting her willingness to seek redress in state court.
