Calaveras County Planners Consider Sending Cannabis Ordinance to Supervisors

[By Terry Grillo]  The Calaveras County Planning Commission on Thursday will consider whether to urge the board of supervisors to either ban commercial marijuana production or at least put a moratorium on new farms.

Planning Commissioner Kelly Wooster drafted a proposed ordinance similar to the one that supervisors rejected on April 12. It would put a moratorium on new marijuana farms and set temporary zoning standards for the existing farms...

The commission will consider the two proposals when it meets at 9 a.m. Thursday...

Meanwhile, a group that seeks to ban marijuana cultivation through a ballot initiative had not, as of 1:30 p.m. Monday, submitted the necessary paperwork, said Calaveras County Elections Coordinator Robin Glanville.
