A Placerville man is going the distance to show his support for law enforcement.
Herve Leconte ran from Placerville to South Lake Tahoe on Friday, 65 miles. He is trying to raise money for the victims of the Dallas shooting.
"I am a slow runner, but I have no brakes," Leconte said.
The run to South Lake Tahoe is grueling. Elevation changes from 3,000 feet to 7,000 feet within miles.
Laconte is an ultra-runner. He says long distance is what he is good at, especially if he is running for a cause.
The runner himself left the sheriff's office in Placerville at 2 a.m. when he started his journey. He made it to the South Lake police station just after 6:30 that same night.
"They are the ones who answer the call if I dial 911," Leconte said. "This run was for them."
Laconte will be running for law enforcement and veterans again this September. This time he will be doing a round trip run from Placerville to Tahoe and back -- 130 miles.
