COVID Density Study Exposes Disturbing Trend in El Dorado Hills

The City of Placerville has put forward a proposed letter to the State Governor to Loosen restriction on local business. The proposed letter rest on a fundamental premise that the lower population density of the area equates to a lower transmission rate of COVID.

In testing that premise with statistical analysis of known data a concerning trend was exposed in the El Dorado Hills area.

The analysis supports the given premise that the lower population density of rural areas in our locale reduces the spread of COVID-19.

Last week the Placerville City Council authorized the City Manager to send a letter to the Governor of California and State Legislators regarding the affect the Coronavirus closure is having on our businesses, residents and overall community. The purpose of such a letter would be to demonstrate the unique set of circumstances of our geography and point out the very low numbers of COVID19 cases.

Placerville City Council voted Tuesday to draft a letter to Gov. Gavin Newsom, arguing that the stay-at-home order should be lifted for the foothills town.

The action, first reported by the Mountain Democrat, was precipitated by low infection numbers and a struggling local economy.
