Darryl Owen Freeman Convicted of Child Sexual Abuse - Faces 8 years in Prison

On Friday, May 6, 2016, an El Dorado County jury made up of three men and nine women convicted Darryl Owen Freeman of lewd acts with a child under the age of 14.
The jury deliberated for just over three hours after hearing testimony from the victim, her grandmother and two El Dorado County Sheriff’s Deputies. After the verdicts, the Honorable Kenneth J. Melikian remanded the defendant into the El Dorado County jail with no bail pending his June 3, 2016 sentencing hearing.
The defendant faces a maximum of 8 years in prison.
District Attorney Vern Pierson stated, “We in the El Dorado County Law Enforcement Community are committed to insuring the safety of our children and to holding all perpetrators of child abuse accountable.”
