El Dorado High School Teacher Arrested For Sexual Battery

Placerville, CA – Daniel Mummy was arrested in Placerville for several counts of sexual misconduct with children.

Placerville Police detectives were called to El Dorado High School on March 16th, 2017 to investigate allegations of a teacher unlawfully touching female students at the high school. The minors reported to police that 33 year old Daniel Mummy, a math teacher at the school, had been touching them in an inappropriate manner while they were at school. Investigators learned that Mummy had been engaged in this behavior since October of 2016.

Mummy was booked at the El Dorado County Jail for seven (7) misdemeanor counts of annoying or molesting children, Penal Code section 647.6, and one (1) count of felony sexual battery by person of authority, Penal Code section 243.4(a). Mummy’s bail was $95,000. 

El Dorado High School and the Placerville Police Department are closely working together to determine if any other victims exist. The students’ safety is the primary concern in this investigation.
