Felony Conviction of Paul Lee Moreau - assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury

On January 9, 2014, Paul Lee Moreau was arrested and booked into El Dorado County jail with bail enhancements exceeding $2,000,000 due to prior felony convictions and prison time. At the time of his arrest Moreau was 47 years old.

On May 18, 2016, an El Dorado County jury made up of eight men and four women convicted Paul Lee Moreau of assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury, and also found that Mr. Moreau had been previously convicted of a "3-strike" offense and a prior prison commitment.  

The jury deliberated for four hours after hearing testimony from the victim, Roger Lanzini, his brother Brian Lanzini, Dr. Alexis Leiser from Marshall Medical Center, and Detective Rich Horn.  

The case was investigated by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Ashley Colivas.

After the verdicts, the Honorable Kenneth Melikian remanded the defendant into the El Dorado County jail with no bail pending the sentencing hearing on June 6, 2016. 

Moreau faces a maximum of twelve years in state prison.
