Folsom Prison has a new Warden and he is from El Dorado

According to a news release from the Governor’s Office David Baughman of Placerville has been appointed warden of California State Prison, Sacramento, in Folsom.  Sacramento State Prison, CSP-Sacramento, sometimes referred to as New Folsom, is adjacent to Folsom State Prison and to Folsom Dam.

Via Gov Brown's office: "David Baughman, 51, of Placerville, has been appointed warden at California State Prison, Sacramento, where he has been acting warden since 2016 and has served in several positions since 1991, including chief deputy warden, associate warden, correctional captain, correctional lieutenant, correctional sergeant and correctional officer. Baughman was a correctional officer at California State Prison, Solano from 1990 to 1991 and at the California Medical Facility from 1989 to 1990. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $145,440. Baughman is a Republican."

David Baughman has been Acting Warden at California State Prison-Sacramento since April 2016.

He has served in multiple positions at CSP-Sacramento from July 1993 to April 2016, including Chief Deputy Warden and Associate Warden.

He was a Correctional Officer at Folsom State Prison from January 1991 to July 1993.

He started his CDCR career at California Medical Facility as a Correctional Officer from March 1989 to January 1991.

On April 15, 2016 Don Caddock reported that Baughman gave a tour to South Korean corrections officers and said:

"Chief Deputy Warden David Baughman explained the mission of the Level IV institution.

'We have a complex mission at CSP-SAC. Along with being a level IV institution, we also house inmates with severe mental illnesses. SAC staff is trained to be versatile and cognizant of an offender’s possible disability,' he said.

Baughman discussed the medical system, mental health and how CSP-SAC makes nearly 7,000 meals for the nearby Folsom State Prison and Folsom Women’s Facility."

Samuel Min said the South Korean delegation’s members each had 20 to 30 years of correctional experience.
