Four divisions on tap for Saturday July 9th at Placerville Speedway

Following a successful Independence Day weekend, that saw two races in three days at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds, Placerville Speedway gets back to regular business this Saturday, July 9th with the 12th round of the Red Hawk Casino Championship Series.

07_04_2016_187c Mason Moore continues to lead the way in the Thompson's Auto Group Winged 360 Sprint Car Series, with a commanding 36 point advantage over defending speedway champion Greg DeCaires of Elk Grove. 14 year old rookie sensation Michael "Buddy" Kofoid sits in third over veteran Placerville resident Jimmy Trulli, while Mike Benson, who won the Independence Day extravaganza on Monday, holds down fifth.

07_04_2016_155c Despite not having a victory in 2016, Eddie Gardner continues to stretch his lead in Domco Plumbing Limited Late Model Series points standings with a 32 point advantage over Monday's winner Wayne Trimble, while Ryan Peter sits another 21 markers back. The family duo of Tyler and Mike Lightfoot are fourth and fifth, respectively, with the elder Lightfoot sitting 79 points behind the leader.

Scott Grunert takes over the points lead from Nick Baldwin in the Jay's Mobi07_04_2016_180cle Welding and Fabricating Pure Stock division. Grunert has just a two point advantage over Baldwin, on the strength of 3 consecutive top three finishes, including a victory last Saturday night on the tight 1/4 mile clay oval.Monday's winner Dan Smith sits 3rd in points while Jason Palmer holds down 4th, and Dan Jinkerson 5th. The top five remain just 22 points apart heading into this weekend's event.

The IMCA Sport Mods will make their second appearance of the season this Saturday, with April 30th winner Brian Cooper leading Howard Law, Dave Gibson, Alan Furuta, and Chuck Golden into Saturday's showdown at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds. Pit gates will open at 2PM with the front gates opening at 3PM. Racing begins at 7PM.
