[by Dina Gentry] Members of the community are invited to enjoy National Astronomy Day free-of-charge between 6:30 and 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, at the Community Observatory in Placerville. Attendees will see the moon and Jupiter through various telescopes, view galaxies with an infinity camera, and participate in constellation tours.

Families and children may also enjoy face painting and a photo booth. More than 1,000 community members attended Astronomy Day last fall – don’t miss out on this one!

Unique to this event, the Community Observatory partnered with El Dorado County schools and students to host a Student Science Fair. The fair will showcase student knowledge about space and space-related sciences. Kindergarten through 8th-grade students will display a variety of entries including written works (poems, reports, creative writing) posters, pieces of art, science experiments, and more.
