Georgetown SOJ Town Hall – All Invited

The El Dorado County State of Jefferson (SOJ) Committee, invites all Divide residents to attend a Town Hall, on Wednesday, October 3, at the Georgetown Community Hall, located on Lower Main Street. The SOJ Town Hall, will be take place between 6 and 8 pm. Moderating the meeting will be Jack Parsons, of Rescue.

This is your opportunity to learn about the State of Jefferson, that is now 23 Counties strong, seeking equal/fair representation in the California State Legislature and/or separate from the State. This is a grassroots movement that began 5 years ago, with just a few counties. The count is now 23 counties, when both Mariposa and Stanislaus Counties, filing declarations/petitions with the California Secretary of State on September 21.

Additionally, through SOJ,  in 2017, Citizens for Fair Representation (CFR) filed a lawsuit against California Secretary of State, Alex Padilla, for lack of representation and dilution of vote. The case is being heard in the United States Federal District Court, Eastern District, Sacramento Division. In July CFR's Attorneys also filed a Writ of Mandamus with the United States Supreme Court, due to the Federal Judge neglect of impaneling, a 3-judge court, to hear the CFR Case.

The U.S. Supreme Court Justices were to conference the case, on September 24. These legal actions and latest court updates will also be a part of the program at the SOJ Town Hall.  

Admission is free and there will be ample opportunity for the audience to ask questions.  Jefferson merchandise will also be available, and free information for both residents and business owners, who stand to gain the most, doing business in the State of Jefferson.
