...FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 9 AM PST MONDAY...

The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a Freeze Warning, which is in effect from 3 AM to 9 AM PST Monday.

* TEMPERATURE...Coldest lows ranging from 27 to 32. Local hard freeze conditions possible in low spots with temperatures in the mid 20s.

* IMPACTS...Freezing temperatures can damage or kill plants that are sensitive to cold. Please check on the elderly and make sure your animals have a warm shelter.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Freeze Warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.

Question: What is the difference between a frost and a hard freeze? ... A hard freeze is a period of at least four consecutive hours of air temperatures that are below 25 degrees F. Many plants can survive a brief frost, but very few can survive a hard freeze.
