Congressman Tom McClintock, who represents the state’s Congressional District 4, joined 12 other House Republicans in voting against the legislation that would overhaul business and personal income taxes to the tune of $1.5 trillion.

In a lengthy statement released Thursday, the Elk Grove Republican explained that he’s concerned about how the bill’s elimination of certain deductions on personal income taxes will disproportionately affect taxpayers in his state.

“I am convinced that the business side of this bill will produce dramatic growth for the national economy,” McClintock stated. “However, I believe the personal income tax side does significant harm, particularly to many families in high-cost, high-tax states like California.” ...
