On Friday May 11, 2018, 38 year old Raymond Andrew Prine was sentenced to 12 years in state prison for molesting three separate victims over a span of twenty years.

Arrest log of January 4, 2017, as reported by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department:
PRINE, RAYMOND ANDREW
Age: 37, Sex: M
Crime 1: FELONY 288.7(A) SDMY:VICTIM UNDER 10YRS Bail: $1,000,000.00
Crime 2: FELONY 288(A) L&L W/CHILD UNDER 14 Bail: $100,000.00
Crime 3: FELONY 289(J) SEX PEN:F/OBJ/ETC:VIC -14 Bail: $150,000.00

The case was initially investigated by El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office in December of 2016, when an eleven-year-old victim reported inappropriate touching by the defendant. Two additional victims, now adults, came forward and reported for the first time similar sexual abuse committed against them by Prine when they were children.

During the sentencing hearing, one victim’s mother submitted a powerful victim impact statement. It read, in part, “Ray bribed, manipulated and taught my daughter to lie to me for many years. Her boundaries were repeatedly crossed, and it is obvious to me and anyone else who know her how this affects her on a daily basis.”

The negotiated disposition in this case came about, in part, to protect the minor aged victim from having to testify, and for this reason the sentence ultimately imposed was supported by the victims and their families. The case was prosecuted by Lead Deputy District Attorney Lisette Suder.

Once released from prison, Mr. Prine will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Some community reactions:

Julia Johnson-JanzenJulia, "IMHO children should not be forced to testify on a witness stand in order for him to get the maximum amount of time. Further traumatizing them would be worse. But this guy has a 20 year history of abuse. He's not leaving there cured. The public will still be at risk and those children and their families are impacted for the rest of their lives. He should of gotten a longer sentence."

Bonnie Miller, "Not long enough should be life"

Sandra Campbell, "Big deal he has to register for the rest of his life , I’m sure he could care less an he will continue to take advantage of children , 12 years gives him plenty of time to plot out his plan to molest without being caught which I will guarantee he do again stinking pig"

Mary Couture. "Should have gotten life sentence period."
