P'ville CHP re High Speed Pursuit - "Best trained law enforcement drivers in the world"

Last Wednesday night, Placerville CHP Officer J. George was on patrol, eastbound US 50 near El Dorado Road when he observed a high speed vehicle traveling westbound US 50.

Officer George was able to get the black late model Chevrolet Corvette stopped east of Ponderosa Road. Officer George detected symptoms of alcohol impairment on the driver and conducted a field sobriety test. 

The driver was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. (23152(a) & 23152(b) of the California Vehicle Code)

Due to heavy rain, Placerville Speedway is forced to postpone Saturday night's "Placerville Posse Challenge" event.

"We were hoping to be able to get tonight's event in", explained promoter Scott Russell. "Unfortunately, with the amount of rainfall we've received and the threat of rain all day, there is no hope of racing this evening. We are discussing options with the Fairgrounds about a possible make up date. We will have details about that when they become official."

King Fire Arsonist Pleads Guilty announces District Attorney

District Attorney Vern Pierson announces the felony convictions of Wayne Allen Huntsman, the arsonist responsible for the 97,000 acre King Fire.  Today, the Defendant pled guilty to three counts of Arson to Forest Land, admitted multiple enhancements for causing injury to firefighters and destruction of multiple structures, was ordered to pay over $60,000,000 in victim restitution, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
