James Donald Roswurm , Placerville, California 
March 1, 1933 - March 30, 2017

Born 1933 in Sandusky Ohio to Eldon Roswurm, and Sara Hilda Cook Roswurm.

As a youth in Huron, Ohio, Jim was very involved in Boy Scouts (becoming an Explorer Scout, chosen for the prestigious Report to the Nation at the White House). He loved the outdoors; camping, hunting, fishing, trapping, canoeing, hiking etc. He graduated from Huron High School in 1951.

After a year at Michigan State, he went on to Ohio State University, graduating with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1957. He was married to Roberta Mann in 1957. He was in private practice in Berlin Heights, Ohio then joined the US Dept. of Agriculture in 1959, moving to California. Jim attended UCLA receiving an MPH in 1967. He was the Tuberculosis Epidemiologist for the USDA, Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and then "on loan" to the Pan American Health Center in Buenos Aires Argentina, 1973-76. In1980 he was named Administrative Veterinarian in Charge of California for APHIS serving until his retirement in 1990.Jim was always a lover of dogs, having them all his life from English Springer Spaniels, Siberian Huskies and Cairn Terriers. Buccaneer Kennels produced many Cairn conformation champions. He loved dog breeding, obedience training, conformation and field trials.

Jim is survived by "Bobbie", his wife of 59 years, sons Matthew of VA, , Douglas of California and Jonathan also of California, five grandchildren, his sisters Alice Foley of Grayling MI, Anita Parker of Merced CA , and Peg Adie of Alabama. Jim was known for his continual quest for knowledge, his love of the natural world, his fine sense of humor and his never-ending curiosity about the world around him. (and his quest for correct grammar)! In accordance with Jim's wishes, A Celebration of his Life will be held later, the date to be announced.
