Robert “Bob” Youel passed away Jan. 7, 2017, following a brief illness. He was born Nov. 21, 1933, in Chicago, Ill. He spent his early years in Southern California. He attended the University of Santa Barbara where he met his future wife, Virginia “Ginny” Dyson; they married in 1956 (60 years).

The family moved to Placerville, Calif., in 1965, where Bob was an administrator and educator for the Placerville School District. In 1982 he and Ginny had the opportunity to work at the Jakarta International School in Jakarta, Indonesia. He was the principal of the elementary school and was responsible for building a new school on the original site. In 1994 they returned home to family in Placerville. He became director of the Carson Pass Information Center on Highway 88 for the next 10 years.

Bob’s greatest love was for his family. He leaves his wife, Ginny; son, Steve Youel and wife, Patty Lynn; brother, William “Bill” Youel; grandson, Jason Rowe; and granddaughters, Alison and Kelsey Youel. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Rowe; and grandson, Adam Rowe.

Bob had a passion for the mountains and was an avid sports fan. Most importantly he was committed to and adored by his family and friends. Per his request, no public memorial service will be held. Donald L. Clark 1928-2017

Donald L. Clark passed away in Placerville, Calif., on Jan. 9, 2017, after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Connie, in 2013. He was the loving father of Kathy (Tim) Breadon, Curt (Peggy) Clark, Judy (Ruben) Grijalva, Jane (Tom) Martino and Larry (Adri) Clark; beloved grandfather of Justin, Jamie, Don, Ryan, Ruben James, David, Tim, Paul, Jim, Laura, Kelly, Caitlin, Greg and Gabe; great-grandfather of nine; and great-great-grandfather of two.

Donald was born in Yankton, S.D., on June 22, 1928. He and Connie moved to El Dorado County, Calif., in 1988 and they resided at the Gold Country Retirement Community these last 28 years. He was a Civil Engineer with the California Department of Transportation, Division of Highways for more than 30 years. He was an active member of the Gold Country Baptist Church in Shingle Springs, Calif., belonging to the Men’s Bible Study group and helping as an usher and greeter. His loves were woodworking and golfing but above all, his family.

A celebration of Donald’s life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 12 p.m. at the Gold Country Baptist Church, 3800 North Shingle Road in Shingle Springs. Private interment has been held at Westwood Hills Memorial Park in Placerville, where he was reunited with Connie.
