Brig Taylor founded SlideBelts in 2008, while still in college. The company, which makes a ratchet belt without holes, has grown rapidly over the past few years, landing on the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing companies in both 2016 and 2017.

With $6.18 million in 2016 revenue, the El Dorado Hills company ranked No. 4 this year on the Business Journal’s list of fastest-growing companies. The company has raised $1.07 million using StartEngine CrowdFunding, garnering one of the highest rankings on Wefunder, a crowdfunding platform.

There is a new chef at the helm of Edgewood Tahoe's three restaurants after the retirement of Frank Stagnaro, the resort’s executive chef for over 25 years.

Executive Chef Charles Wilson was amazed at the view from the resort that sits on the shore of Lake Tahoe.

“One of the reasons I’m here is this property,” Wilson said. “Walking into the Great Room and looking out the windows was the moment. 

The culinary team’s job is to match the ambiance of the resort, and this setting is truly spectacular.”

Javora is leaving news television to spend more time with her family, she announced prior to her final broadcast on New Year's Eve. 

She and her husband, Justin Boeger, a winemaker at Boeger Winery in Placerville, have two daughters under the age of 6.

A group of advanced animation students at College of the Canyons spent the entire Spring 2017 semester bringing to life the memories of Holocaust survivor Leon Malmed, resulting in the animated documentary The Promise. During Nazi occupation of Northern France, between the years of 1940 and 1945, Malmed and his sister lived in hiding, saved by a French family. The film documents Malmed’s experience as a child during those years of the Holocaust. Join the Friends of the Library as we screen this amazing film, hosted by Leon Malmed himself. Free and open to all.
