California Republican Party Shrinks as Unaffiliated Voters Grow

by Placerville Newswire / Feb 23, 2016 / comments

The California Republican party shrunk by about 400,000 registered voters, or 8 percent, during the last four years, even as the number of Democrats stayed flat and unaffiliated voters grew, according to figures released Monday by the California Secretary of State.

About 4.76 million California voters are registered as Republicans, down from 5.17 million at this point in 2012. Republicans now make up about 27.6 percent of voters, down from 30.4 percent four years prior. No county in the state has a majority of voters registered as Republicans.

El Dorado County Sheriff's Office and ABC Control work together to Stop Underage Drinking

by Placerville Newswire / Feb 23, 2016 / comments

El Dorado County Sheriff's Deputies and an Agent with the Department of Alcohol Beverage Control conducted a Minor Decoy (shoulder tap) and a minor decoy alcohol purchase operation today in El Dorado County.

The operation is conducted to see that local businesses are staying in compliance and checking for identification to confirm that the customer purchasing alcohol is 21 years of age. We are happy to report that in all the businesses that were checked, there was not a single one that sold alcohol to our minor decoys.
