Pollock Pines woman dies in crash


A 32-year-old Pollock Pines woman was killed Wednesday night as the result of a solo vehicle accident on Highway 50 near Schnell School Road in Placerville when for unknown reasons her car left the roadway, sheered a traffic sign and ultimately struck a tree.

Dead is Crissandra Spainhower, a former nurse at Marshall Hospital, who was driving a 2009 Subaru Outback westbound at about 7:20 p.m. “at a high rate of speed,” according to the California Highway Patrol, when her vehicle left the highway on the north side...

The victim, who was wearing her seat belt, suffered major injuries and was taken to Marshall Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 8:48 p.m.
