Ponderosa FFA was established in 1964 in the small town of Shingle Springs. Ponderosa FFA is a part of the Sacramento Section FFA in the Central Region.

The National FFA Organization is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.  Local classes include:

Ag Leadership is taught by Mr. Valencia and is made up of Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors that are either Chapter Officers, or very active chapter members. The class focuses on servant leadership to our chapter, school, community and beyond to shape tomorrow's leaders. In the class, students help plan Ponderosa FFA events, chapter meetings and fundraisers.

Taught by Mrs. Sawyer, the Animal Science class learns about animal systems, the production of animals in agriculture and how animal science relates to the production of agriculture across the world.

ROP Animal Health is a class offered to Juniors and Seniors enrolled in the El Dorado Union High School District. The class is intended to help students who have an interest in the veterinary field or animal related career. Taking three semesters of the course and meeting CVMA requirements allows students to take the test in order to become a Certified Veterinary Assistant!
