Placerville, CA - The Transportation Division of El Dorado County’s Community Development Agency will be performing road work on Cold Springs Road between Skyview Lane and approximately 500’ North of Mount Shasta Lane. The work is anticipated to begin on July 18, 2016 and continue through August 5, 2016. This work will require two 5-day, 24-hour full road closures and detours. The first full road closure from Skyview Lane to American Way is scheduled to begin on July 18, 2016 and continue through July 22, 2016. The second full road closure from American Way to approximately 500’ North of Mount Shasta Lane is scheduled from August 1, 2016 through August 5, 2016.

During these 5-day full road closures, detours will be in place around Cold Springs Road to Gold Hill Road and Coloma Road / Highway 49. Traffic through the full closures will be limited to emergency vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians. Access to driveways within the full closure work zones will be made available for those local residents, visitors and deliveries. One-way reversing traffic control from mid-July and into mid-August will continue as needed at various locations on Cold Springs Road between Skyview Lane and approximately 500’ North of Mount Shasta Lane. Motorists should expect delays from the mid-July through mid-August.

The closures are necessary to ensure motorist and worker safety while the County’s contractor performs work on the roadway as well as for reduction of overall impact times to the traveling public. Safety improvements associated with the project include realignment of two existing curves, roadway excavation, pavement, guardrail, fencing, drainage ditches, drainage system improvements, relocating roadway signs, and roadway striping.

Motorists are advised to slow down through the work zone and expect delays during full road closure detours and reversing traffic control. Portable changeable message signs will be placed at the approaches to each end of the work zone to keep motorists updated on the schedule for full road closures. The County sincerely appreciates the cooperation and patience of motorists that use these roadway facilities.
