South Lake Tahoe November 2016 Tax Initiatives

At the June 21st City Council of City of South Lake Tahoe meeting, the Council approved the ballot measures for the November 2016 Tax Initiatives.   

TOT 2% Increase
Council approved a resolution to place for the public’s consideration on the November 2016 a ballot measure to increase Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) by two percent dedicated construction, maintenance and operations of recreation; and specifically the City Council identified the construction of a new recreational complex as the highest priority. As a Special Purpose tax increase, it will require a two thirds approval by the voters to be enacted.  

Half Cent Sales Tax Increase Council approved a resolution to place for the public’s consideration on the November 2016 a ballot measure to increase sales tax by one half (1/2) percent for general fund purposes.    

Advisory Measure Council approved a resolution to place for the public’s consideration on the November 2016 a ballot measure three options for the electorate's consideration of what priority to expend the additional tax revenue from this measure. The three options are:
Housing;
Road construction and maintenance;
City facilities and equipment.
