[Lt Shannon Laney]

On July 12th, 2018 at approximately 1030 am, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department received numerous 911 calls stating that a stabbing had just occurred in front of CVS Pharmacy, 3471 Lake Tahoe Blvd. When the police arrived on scene, they located Scott Nevin, 51 year old San Jose Resident bleeding from a stab wound in front of the pharmacy. Witnesses at the scene pointed out Paul Ivanovsky, 71 year old Sparks resident, who was sitting in his nearby vehicle, as the person who had stabbed Nevin.

Both Nevin and Ivanovsky were transported to Barton Hospital for treatment of injuries received at the scene. SLTPD Detectives responded and took over the investigation. Through interviews with witnesses and involved parties, it was determined that this incident started over a road rage incident over a parking spot. After the incident, Ivanovsky parked in front of the CVS Pharmacy. Nevin, who was parked nearby, made contact with Ivanovsky as he sat in his car. Nevin had his 13 year old son with him during this incident. Nevin confronted Ivanovsky about the road rage incident. Ivanovsky used pepper spray against Nevin. Nevin took the pepper spray from Ivanovsky and sprayed him back with it. Ivanovsky exited his car and Nevin started striking him several times in the face and head. Ivanovsky pulled a knife out and stabbed Nevin once, then withdrew to his vehicle and awaited the police to arrive.

Both parties are cooperating with the investigation. Neither Ivanovsky nor Nevin were arrested at this time. This case will be sent to the El Dorado County District Attorney’s office for review.
