Ted Cruz In California "The General Reviews His Troops" says Jon Fleischman

[by Jon Fleischman] Senator Ted Cruz demonstrated the organizational heft of his California machine Thursday morning, speaking to over one hundred of his proposed slate of delegates at the Hotel Irvine in Orange County.

For 45 minutes, Cruz spoke with and took questions from a very enthusiastic group of loyal supporters who are prepared to travel to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July.

In California, delegate slates are submitted by each candidate. The ten statewide delegates are awarded to the candidate who wins the biggest piece of the statewide vote. And in each of California's 53 congressional districts, three delegates are awarded to the top vote-getter on a winner-take-all basis.

Just the task of identifying a full slates of loyal delegates and alternates, with supporters who will travel to the convention at their own expense, is difficult. But Cruz has done that.

The Trump and Kasich campaigns are scrambling to catch up.

Following the morning meeting with his proposed delegates, Cruz departed for a fundraising luncheon at the posh Pacific Club, where he was slated to be joined by former rivals Jeb Bush and Carly Fiorina.

That sold-out event will raise hundreds of thousands of dollars. He was scheduled to attend a similar event later in Los Angeles.
