Watchful Neighbors may have Saved Elderly Woman Home Alone

"What a great example of consideration and human kindness," writes the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office.

"Maryann and Michael live across the street from an elderly woman who lives alone. Today they noticed that the neighbor's window coverings weren't open like they usually are when the neighbor is home. Knowing the neighbor was home, Maryann walked across the street and looked in windows and knocked on doors, but her neighbor did not respond. The neighbor didn't answer her phone either. Fearing the worst, Maryann called EDSO to check on her neighbor."

"After getting into the house, the neighbor was found by EDSO Deputies; however, she had suffered a medical emergency and needed immediate medical attention. Paramedics and Fire personnel came to the house and transported the neighbor to the hospital for stroke related symptoms. I have no doubt that Maryann and Michael's awareness and concern saved their neighbor's life today."

"Thank you Maryann and Michael; the world needs more neighbors like you both!"
