Youth Conservation Corps Intern Job at Eldorado National Forest in Placerville

In partnership with US Forest Service, MobilizeGreen is seeking a YCC Intern, who will assist the Conservation Education Program specialist in recruitment and hiring activities associated with the Generation Green summer program on the Eldorado National Forest in Placerville, California. The intern will provide assistance to variety of Forest staff for summer employment needs. The intern will also participate in various hiring events and assist in interviews and selections of candidates.

Term: Monday through Friday, Part-Time (20 hrs/week); Placerville, CA

Starting ASAP


  • -- $300/week stipend/living allowance for full time

Duties & Responsibilities

  • -- Work with the Generation Green clubs at 3 area high schools.
  • -- Represent the Eldorado National Forest in several hiring events sponsored by El Dorado County, the Forest Service and BLM.
  • -- Recruit high school and college students for a variety of summer positions within the Eldorado National Forest
  • -- Assist the Conservation Education Program specialist in the delivery of a variety of conservation education programs at El Dorado County public schools as needed.
  • -- Assist in the hiring and selection of 28 YCC enrollees for the 2018 field season; including assisting high school students to prepare their applications and conducting interviews.
  • -- Assist in preparations & planning for the 2018 Generation Green program. 


Experience & Qualifications

  • -- Strong oral and written communication
  • -- Great communication skills
  • -- Preferred if candidate has already been an YCC member.
  • -- Experience with youth development programs
  • -- Ability to be flexible with a changing schedule
  • -- Customer Service experience
  • -- Proficient in Microsoft, Word, Excel, PowerPoint 


Work Environment                                                           

The work environment presents normal, every-day risks or discomforts typical of offices, meeting rooms, field, and travel situations. Local travel in the metropolitan areas and locations outside the office may be required on a limited basis. The work requires the RA be flexible and be able to adapt to a variety of work settings, both indoors and outdoors. There may be lifting and moving boxes and equipment up to 25 pounds. At special events such as recruitment/outreach/hiring events, the RA may be standing and engaged in active discussions for long periods.
