Marshall at Sutter\u2019s Mill in 1848 \u2014 an event that helped trigger the California Gold Rush and reshape the history of El Dorado County and the state.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1668\" data-end=\"1970\">The free community event (day-use parking is <strong data-start=\"1713\" data-end=\"1732\">$10 per vehicle<\/strong>) invites visitors to explore the park\u2019s historic Main Street and participate in <strong data-start=\"1813\" data-end=\"1846\">living history demonstrations<\/strong>, including <strong data-start=\"1858\" data-end=\"1931\">gold panning, blacksmithing, and displays of period mining techniques<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1972\" data-end=\"2284\">\u201cGold Discovery Day gives people of all ages a chance to step back into a pivotal moment in California history and understand how local pioneers lived, worked and traveled,\u201d said a park spokesperson. <em data-start=\"2172\" data-end=\"2284\">\u201cIt\u2019s a meaningful way for families and students across El Dorado County to connect with our shared heritage.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2286\" data-end=\"2340\">Activities scheduled throughout the park will include:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2342\" data-end=\"2744\">\n<li data-start=\"2342\" data-end=\"2493\">\n<p data-start=\"2344\" data-end=\"2493\"><strong data-start=\"2344\" data-end=\"2395\">Gold panning stations and mining demonstrations<\/strong> where visitors can try their hand at historic techniques.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2494\" data-end=\"2622\">\n<p data-start=\"2496\" data-end=\"2622\"><strong data-start=\"2496\" data-end=\"2534\">Historic trades and craft displays<\/strong> such as blacksmithing and trade demonstrations.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2623\" data-end=\"2744\">\n<p data-start=\"2625\" data-end=\"2744\"><strong data-start=\"2625\" data-end=\"2675\">Family-friendly games and learning experiences<\/strong> for children and adults alike.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2746\" data-end=\"2933\">Gold Discovery Day has been celebrated annually in Coloma since <strong data-start=\"2810\" data-end=\"2818\">1948<\/strong>, when the centennial of Marshall\u2019s find was first marked by local residents.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2935\" data-end=\"3238\">James W.
