A <\/span>wildfire <\/span>now <\/span>known <\/span>as <\/span>the <\/span>Point <\/span>Fire<\/span><\/strong> was <\/span>reported <\/span>Sunday <\/span>morning, <\/span>March <\/span>15, <\/span>in <\/span>El Dorado County<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>prompting <\/span>a <\/span>quick <\/span>response <\/span>from <\/span>fire <\/span>crews <\/span>and <\/span>an <\/span>investigation <\/span>into <\/span>how <\/span>the <\/span>blaze <\/span>began.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, <\/span>fuel-<\/span>reduction <\/span>work <\/span>is <\/span>continuing <\/span>in <\/span>other <\/span>parts <\/span>of <\/span>the <\/span>region. <\/span>The <\/span>U.S. Forest Service<\/span><\/span><\/strong> announced <\/span>a <\/span>prescribed <\/span>burn <\/span>operation<\/span>, <\/span>known <\/span>as <\/span>the <\/span>Liberty <\/span>3025 <\/span>Rx <\/span>project, <\/span>scheduled <\/span>to <\/span>begin <\/span>March <\/span>16 <\/span>near <\/span>Pioneer <\/span>Trail <\/span>in <\/span>the <\/span>Lake <\/span>Tahoe <\/span>Basin. <\/span>The <\/span>project <\/span>will <\/span>burn <\/span>approximately <\/span>9 <\/span>acres <\/span>of <\/span>pile <\/span>material<\/span> to <\/span>reduce <\/span>hazardous <\/span>fuels.<\/span><\/p>\n

March <\/span>15 <\/span>was <\/span>also <\/span>designated <\/span>a <\/span>permissible <\/span>burn <\/span>day<\/span> for <\/span>both <\/span>the <\/span>West <\/span>Slope <\/span>and <\/span>South <\/span>Lake <\/span>Tahoe <\/span>areas <\/span>of <\/span>El <\/span>Dorado <\/span>County.<\/span><\/p>\n
