PLACERVILLE, Calif. \u2014 A half-century tradition rooted in service and local heritage is preparing to take center stage once again in Placerville<\/span><\/span>, as the El Dorado Rose program celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026.<\/p>\n The annual pageant honors women age 60 and older who have demonstrated a lifelong commitment to volunteerism in El Dorado County<\/span><\/span>. Organizers describe the program as both a recognition of service and a living tribute to the county\u2019s Gold Rush-era history.<\/p>\n \u201cThis program is about honoring women who have quietly shaped our community for decades,\u201d the El Dorado Rose Corporation said in a public statement. \u201cTheir stories reflect the very best of El Dorado County.\u201d<\/p>\n The selection process includes two public events in Placerville:<\/p>\n El Dorado Rose Ball:<\/strong> May 16, 2026 \u2014 Candidates are formally introduced to the public and judges.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n El Dorado Rose Pageant:<\/strong> June 18, 2026 \u2014 Held during opening night of the El Dorado County Fair<\/span><\/span> at the Imagination Theater, where the winner is announced.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n The identity of the Rose is traditionally kept secret until the pageant, adding an element of anticipation to the long-standing community event.<\/p>\n Candidates for the 2026\u201327 title must meet several criteria:<\/p>\n Be at least 60 years old<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Have lived in El Dorado County for a minimum of 10 years<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Demonstrate a documented history of volunteer service outside of career obligations<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Secure sponsorship from a local business, organization, or individual<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Applications, along with entry fees, must be submitted by April 1, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n A defining feature of the El Dorado Rose tradition is its emphasis on historical authenticity.
