Montebello’s Boss Tiny Home Company, Utah’s Irontown Modular, El Dorado Hills’ AMEG<\/a>, and Austin’s Plugin House Company complete the list.<\/p>\n

Uncertainties in the Details: Despite the contracts being finalized, key details remain elusive. The agreements do not specify the quantity or models of tiny homes each vendor will provide, nor the overall budget for the state initiative. Even the selected companies are in the dark about specific allocations.<\/p>\n

Amy King, CEO of Pallet, expressed uncertainty, stating, “It is not clear to us today which product is going to which city or when.” Despite the lack of specifics, these companies are ready to serve once the details are ironed out.<\/p>\n

Homelessness Statistics: California grapples with a staggering homelessness crisis, with over 181,000 unhoused residents, and more than 123,000 people living in makeshift encampments or vehicles. In recent years, tiny homes have emerged as a favored solution, offering a more cost-effective and quicker alternative to traditional housing.<\/p>\n

Affordability and Size Options: Tiny homes, particularly Pallet’s 70-square-foot basic cabin without plumbing, present an affordable option at $18,900. Larger units, spanning 120 square feet with an en suite bathroom, are priced significantly higher at $48,500. State regulations mandate a minimum size of 70 square feet for a single person and 120 square feet for two people, with no obligation for en suite bathrooms.<\/p>\n
