data-start=\"417\" data-end=\"420\" \/>Not to harm, but to try and stay.<br data-start=\"453\" data-end=\"456\" \/>Because the world moves, and people roam,<br data-start=\"497\" data-end=\"500\" \/>But the oak still stands\u2014and that feels like home.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"554\" data-end=\"557\" \/>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"559\" data-end=\"772\"><strong data-start=\"559\" data-end=\"618\">II. \u201cSierra Morning\u201d \u2013 by a student of South Lake Tahoe<\/strong><br data-start=\"618\" data-end=\"621\" \/>When snow falls soft on the cabin roof,<br data-start=\"660\" data-end=\"663\" \/>The world goes silent, aloof.<br data-start=\"692\" data-end=\"695\" \/>But in that hush, I find my voice,<br data-start=\"729\" data-end=\"732\" \/>A place of stillness, a poet\u2019s choice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"774\" data-end=\"925\">I write of deer tracks and the hush of white,<br data-start=\"819\" data-end=\"822\" \/>Of cocoa steam and firelight.<br data-start=\"851\" data-end=\"854\" \/>My town may sleep beneath the storm,<br data-start=\"890\" data-end=\"893\" \/>But in my notebook\u2014it is warm.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"927\" data-end=\"930\" \/>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"932\" data-end=\"1163\"><strong data-start=\"932\" data-end=\"991\">III. \u201cMain Street Melody\u201d \u2013 by a student of Placerville<\/strong><br data-start=\"991\" data-end=\"994\" \/>The Bell Tower chimes at noon and six,<br data-start=\"1032\" data-end=\"1035\" \/>Its sound is part of the town\u2019s old tricks.<br data-start=\"1078\" data-end=\"1081\" \/>I skate past shops with windows bright,<br data-start=\"1120\" data-end=\"1123\" \/>And smell kettle corn on Friday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1165\" data-end=\"1316\">My town\u2019s not big, it doesn\u2019t shout,<br data-start=\"1201\" data-end=\"1204\" \/>But it hums a song I can&#8217;t live without.<br data-start=\"1244\" data-end=\"1247\" \/>So I wrote it down, this melody\u2014<br data-start=\"1279\" data-end=\"1282\" \/>A poem of Main Street and of me.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"1318\" data-end=\"1321\" \/>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1323\" data-end=\"1534\"><strong data-start=\"1323\" data-end=\"1379\">IV. \u201cApple Hill in October\u201d \u2013 by a student of Camino<\/strong><br data-start=\"1379\" data-end=\"1382\" \/>Leaves like embers float the breeze,<br data-start=\"1418\" data-end=\"1421\" \/>Hot cider warms our chilly knees.<br data-start=\"1454\" data-end=\"1457\" \/>We race the wagons down the row,<br data-start=\"1489\" data-end=\"1492\" \/>The pumpkins laugh, the scarecrows know.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1536\" data-end=\"1694\">My fingers sticky from caramel shine,<br data-start=\"1573\" data-end=\"1576\" \/>I write of orchards and harvest time.<br data-start=\"1613\" data-end=\"1616\" \/>Of boots in mud and cheeks turned red,<br data-start=\"1701\" data-end=\"1752\">V. \u201cThe Ghost of Gold\u201d \u2013 by a student of Coloma<\/strong><br data-start=\"1752\" data-end=\"1755\" \/>They say the river once ran gold,<br data-start=\"1788\" data-end=\"1791\" \/>That fortune favored hands grown bold.<br data-start=\"1829\" data-end=\"1832\" \/>But I see ghosts along the shore\u2014<br data-start=\"1865\" data-end=\"1868\" \/>Dreamers who asked for just a little more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1914\" data-end=\"2071\">Now schoolkids pan for flakes and fun,<br data-start=\"1952\" data-end=\"1955\" \/>While I write poems in the midday sun.<br data-start=\"1993\" data-end=\"1996\" \/>The gold was theirs, the pen is mine\u2014<br data-start=\"2033\" data-end=\"2036\" \/>And that, to me, is just as fine.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"2073\" data-end=\"2076\" \/>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2078\" data-end=\"2292\"><strong data-start=\"2078\" data-end=\"2137\">VI. \u201cThe Library Whispers\u201d \u2013 by a student of Georgetown<\/strong><br data-start=\"2137\" data-end=\"2140\" \/>The shelves are tall and old with scent,<br data-start=\"2180\" data-end=\"2183\" \/>Of dusty thought and time well spent.<br data-start=\"2220\" data-end=\"2223\" \/>Ms. K smiles as I find my nook,<br data-start=\"2254\" data-end=\"2257\" \/>To scribble dreams inside a book.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2294\" data-end=\"2449\">I hear the hush, the turning page,<br data-start=\"2328\" data-end=\"2331\" \/>The poet&#8217;s voice across the age.<br data-start=\"2363\" data-end=\"2366\" \/>It tells me, \u201cWrite, don\u2019t be afraid\u2014<br data-start=\"2403\" data-end=\"2406\" \/>The quietest words are the loudest made.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"2451\" data-end=\"2454\" \/>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2456\" data-end=\"2682\"><strong data-start=\"2456\" data-end=\"2526\">VII. \u201cA Poem for Meadow\u2019s Trail\u201d \u2013 by a
