(April 12, 2025) \u2014<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"122\" data-end=\"203\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">PLACERVILLE, Calif. \u2014 In response to the growing challenge of homelessness, El Dorado County has launched a series of comprehensive initiatives aimed at providing immediate relief and long-term solutions for its unhoused population.<\/span>\u200b<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"205\" data-end=\"286\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"58\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">El Dorado Navigation Center: A New Approach to Shelter<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"288\" data-end=\"486\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Opened in February 2023, the El Dorado Navigation Center in Placerville offers a 60-bed, low-barrier shelter for adults experiencing homelessness.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Operated by Volunteers of America in partnership with the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), the center provides 24\/7 access to case management, housing assistance, and behavioral health services.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">The facility, temporarily housed in a former juvenile detention center, is slated to move to a permanent location in the coming years<\/span> .\u200b<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"488\" data-end=\"613\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">\u201cPrograms like the El Dorado Navigation Center give individuals the opportunity to come to a safe place and access life-changing services,\u201d said VOA Board Chair Nick Himphill.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">\u201cWhen my wife and I were homeless, it was an overwhelming 24\/7 struggle. But the moment we stepped into the shelter, we were treated with love and dignity by the staff and were able to get back on our feet.\u201d<\/span>\u200b<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"615\" data-end=\"700\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"79\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless: Comprehensive Support in South Lake Tahoe<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"702\" data-end=\"908\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">The Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless (TCH) offers a range of services, including a 14-bed emergency shelter providing 24\/7 access, three meals daily, and case management.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">TCH also participates in California\u2019s HomeKey Program, converting motels into permanent housing for individuals experiencing homelessness.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Their Coordinated Entry system assists clients with obtaining identification, accessing benefits, and securing housing<\/span> .<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"910\" data-end=\"995\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"68\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">New Morning Youth &amp; Family Services: Supporting Vulnerable Youth<\/strong><\/span>\u200b<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"997\" data-end=\"1203\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">For over 50 years, New Morning Youth &amp; Family Services has provided critical support to at-risk youth in El Dorado County.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Their Ashby House in Placerville is the county\u2019s only 24-hour emergency shelter for homeless and runaway youth, offering counseling, educational support, and meals.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px
