In Cameron Park and El Dorado County, the PG&E Foundation has provided a $6,070 donation to the Food Bank of El Dorado County to bolster local food assistance as demand grows during the holiday season. The funding comes as part of a larger $250,000 charitable support package distributed through the California Association of Food Banks, aimed at aiding regional food banks and senior meal programs across Pacific Gas and Electric Co.’s Northern and Central California service areas. The Food Bank of El Dorado County, which has been serving local communities including South Lake Tahoe and rural areas for more than two decades, acts as a vital safety net by coordinating food distribution through partner agencies across the county.

“An increasing number of families today are struggling to put food on their tables, and we are grateful to be able to help,”

said Joe Wilson, vice president of PG&E’s North Valley & Sierra Region, in a region-wide statement about the foundation’s contributions.

“We’re proud of our longstanding partnership with local food banks and meal distribution organizations. These community-based groups are a critical safety net for families, the elderly, and so many others.”

The Food Bank’s executive leadership noted that even modest contributions make a tangible difference in stocking shelves, supporting meal distribution sites and addressing the heightened need brought on by rising living costs and broader economic pressures. Local residents and volunteers rely on the bank’s network of distribution points, especially during the winter months when demand traditionally increases.

The PG&E Foundation’s support is drawn from its Better Together Giving Program, which emphasizes community resilience, food security and emergency preparedness throughout the utility’s service footprint.

As El Dorado County continues grappling with gaps in food access for some residents, donations like this are credited with helping the Food Bank maintain and expand services that reach thousands of households each year.
