SACRAMENTO —

Lotus resident Robert Deitz has received an “A” rating from the California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA), a statewide advocacy group focused on Second Amendment rights, according to a press release issued April 22 by Dan Dellinger Consulting.

The rating comes as the District IV race for El Dorado County supervisor continues to draw attention ahead of the June 2 ballot return deadline. The contest is shaping up as one of the more closely watched local races, with candidates emphasizing public safety, fiscal management and rural community values.

CRPA, which describes itself as a civil rights organization supporting firearm ownership and safety, evaluates candidates based on their positions and records related to gun rights and related legislation. In a statement accompanying the rating, the organization cited Deitz’s

“long history of defending the Second Amendment and promoting the shooting sports.”

Deitz, a cybersecurity and government efficiency consultant, has also been involved in youth shooting programs locally, including coaching the El Dorado Youth Trap Team. His campaign highlighted prior legislative involvement, including work on Senate Bill 1179 alongside former state Sen. Dennis Hollingsworth. The bill established California’s “Free Hunting Day,” allowing newcomers to participate in hunting without purchasing a license.

“Robert Deitz has demonstrated a consistent commitment to protecting constitutional rights and expanding access to outdoor traditions,”

the campaign said in the release.

The CRPA endorsement underscores the role that Second Amendment advocacy continues to play in rural Northern California politics, particularly in counties like El Dorado where hunting and shooting sports remain part of the local culture and economy.

The organization also noted its broader efforts, including litigation and legislative advocacy at the state and federal levels, as part of its evaluation criteria.

Ballots for the District IV race must be returned by Tuesday, June 2.
