PLACERVILLE, Calif. — Longtime Placerville businessman Steve Stymeist, known throughout El Dorado and Amador counties for building the former Stymeist Collision Centers into a regional automotive repair brand, is turning heads again — this time in the luxury real estate market.
Stymeist’s 31-acre foothill compound off Irish Port Lane has been listed for $3.25 million, offering what can best be described as a private entertainment retreat tucked into the Sierra foothills just minutes from Highway 50.
The estate, located at 4201 Irish Port Lane near Placerville, includes two parcels totaling more than 31 acres and centers around a roughly 3,007-square-foot main residence with three bedrooms, three bathrooms and flexible bonus rooms designed for uses ranging from home offices to a theater space.
But the property’s most striking feature may be its panoramic Sierra Nevada views — views Stymeist said were initially hidden when he first acquired the land.
“When we looked out here it was like a hill — we didn’t know we had a view,”
Stymeist said while discussing the extensive grading and land work completed on the property.
“Oh, I’ve got some work to do.”
That work involved moving significant amounts of dirt and reshaping the terrain to open sightlines stretching across the foothills toward the mountains. The result is a property designed to maximize outdoor living and large-scale entertaining.
The compound features a resort-style backyard with an elevated swimming pool, spa and expansive lawn area capable of hosting private events and concerts. Separate guest accommodations include two detached cabins with kitchenettes and bathrooms, along with eight RV hookups equipped with water and electrical service.
A detached recreational building — described as a “man cave” — includes a golf simulator, bar area, multiple televisions and storage space for collector vehicles. The estate also includes a professional-grade workshop intended for large personal projects and equipment storage.
Stymeist spent nearly four decades building his family-owned collision repair business after entering the industry in the mid-1980s following graduation from the Denver Automotive and Diesel College. Under his leadership, Stymeist Collision Centers expanded to four locations serving Placerville and Jackson before the company was sold in early 2023 to national repair chain Crash Champions.
At the time of the acquisition, Stymeist Collision Centers had developed a reputation in the region for personalized customer service and community involvement. Stymeist and his wife, Lori, have long promoted a “pay it forward” philosophy centered on mentorship and local engagement.
Since selling the company, Stymeist has focused primarily on personal real estate ventures while continuing to reside in the Placerville area.
The Irish Port Lane estate is listed by Tiffany Kraft of Vista Sotheby’s International Realty.
For El Dorado County residents accustomed to seeing large ranch properties scattered across the foothills, the Stymeist compound represents a growing trend of luxury lifestyle estates blending rural acreage with resort-style amenities aimed at hosting family events, corporate retreats and private entertainment.
