The City of Placerville is preparing to implement a proposed Community Services Department fee schedule that would significantly increase aquatics-related costs<\/a> for residents beginning June 27, 2026.<\/p>\n

According to Attachment A<\/a> of the proposed fee schedule, many public swim, lap swim and seasonal pass fees at the city\u2019s aquatic facilities<\/a> would rise by roughly 25% or more compared to current 2025 pricing. The proposed increases affect families, seniors, veterans and regular lap swimmers who rely on the city pool during the summer season.<\/p>\n

Among the most noticeable changes are public swim admission rates. Current admission fees of $6 for ages 4-54 would be replaced with a tiered system charging $7 for youth ages 4-17 and $8 for adults ages 18-54. Admission for children ages 1-3 and seniors age 55 and older would increase from $4 to $6. The proposed schedule also adds military and veteran discounts within the senior pricing category.<\/p>\n

Season swim passes would also undergo major restructuring. The city currently offers a flat $40 individual season pass. Under the proposal, seasonal passes would rise to $65 for youth and seniors and $75 for adults. A new family season pass would also be introduced at $175 for up to four household members, with an added charge of $25 per additional family member.<\/p>\n

Lap swimmers could see some of the steepest increases under the proposal. Adult lap swim drop-in rates would jump from $7 to $15, while senior rates would double from $5 to $10. Monthly lap swim passes would increase from $45 to $50 for adults and from $35 to $45 for seniors. Seasonal lap swim passes would rise from $120 to $140 for adults and from $90 to $120 for seniors, military personnel and veterans.<\/p>\n

Swim lesson pricing would remain largely stable for group instruction at $39 for four-day sessions, but private lessons would rise from $110 to $125. The proposal also introduces new semi-private swim lessons priced at $110 for four-day sessions.<\/p>\n

Facility rental rates for pool usage would remain unchanged under the proposal, including two-hour pool rentals ranging from $200 to $650 depending on the number of pools used. Party rental pricing would also remain at $140. However, a new obstacle course rental option would be added at $100 as a facility rental add-on or $175 for party rentals covering up to 20 people.<\/p>\n

City officials have not yet publicly detailed the full rationale behind the proposed increases, though municipalities across California have faced rising operational costs tied to staffing, utilities, maintenance and insurance expenses for public recreation programs.<\/p>\n

For many Placerville families, the increases arrive at a time when summer recreation costs continue climbing across the region. Residents who regularly use the city pool for exercise, youth recreation and swim education may see the greatest financial impact if the schedule is approved as proposed.<\/p>\n

The proposed fee schedule is expected to take effect June 27, 2026, pending final approval by city officials.<\/p>\n
