\u201cThe main pool contains a low-head dam hydraulic that creates a powerful \u2018washing machine\u2019 effect, making it very difficult to escape once caught in it,\u201d the district stated.<\/p>\n
Low-head dams are known among rescue personnel as especially hazardous because circulating currents can repeatedly pull swimmers underwater, even in areas that appear calm from the surface.<\/p>\n
The Rock Creek swimming area remains a popular destination during warmer months, drawing visitors from across El Dorado County and the Sacramento region.
