Fifty years later, the program remains a unique fixture of county life, honoring women age 60 and older whose contributions often occur behind the scenes and outside the public spotlight.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1607\" data-end=\"1832\">Organizers say the 2026 celebration will not only mark the pageant&#8217;s golden anniversary but also pay tribute to the woman whose idea transformed local recognition programs and created a lasting legacy of community engagement.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"1834\" data-end=\"2080\">\u201cDottie believed that women who devoted their lives to serving others deserved to be recognized and celebrated,\u201d pageant organizers said in announcing the anniversary tribute. \u201cFifty years later, her vision continues to inspire new generations.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"2082\" data-end=\"2442\">The El Dorado Rose program was established through the El Dorado County Fair Special Events Committee in 1976, with the first Rose Ball following several years later.
