El Dorado Hills (Dec 8, 2024, 2024) CA – Maurice Johnson, the steadfast Fire Chief of El Dorado Hills Fire Department, has officially announced his retirement, marking the end of an illustrious career that has spanned over three decades. Johnson, who began his tenure as Fire Chief on January 1, 2019, has been a pivotal figure in enhancing emergency services and fostering community resilience in the region.

Raised by a single mother, Johnson’s journey into the fire service was inspired by a ride-along with the Citrus Heights Fire Department in 1988. This experience ignited a lifelong passion for public service. Over the years, he climbed the ranks, demonstrating unwavering commitment and leadership that ultimately brought him to El Dorado Hills.

His leadership was particularly evident during wildfire seasons, where his strategic vision ensured swift and effective responses, safeguarding countless lives and properties.

“Serving as the Fire Chief for this incredible community has been the honor of my life,” Johnson stated in a heartfelt announcement. “I am proud of what we have accomplished together, and I leave knowing the department is in capable hands.”

Deputy Chief Dustin Hall is expected to step into the leadership role following Johnson’s retirement, ensuring a seamless transition for the department.

Chief Johnson’s departure will be formally celebrated at a community event in December 2024, where colleagues, family, and residents will gather to honor his legacy. As Johnson looks forward to spending more time with his family and pursuing personal interests, his contributions to El Dorado Hills will undoubtedly leave an enduring impact.
