El Dorado County, CA (Feb 1, 2025) – The Highway 50 Association’s 76th Annual Wagon Train is scheduled from May 31 through June 7, 2025. This event is a historical reenactment of the “Great Western Migration,” inviting participants to experience the journey of early pioneers along the Highway 50 corridor.

  • Route: The Wagon Train starts in Round Hill and travels westward along Highway 50, passing through areas such as South Lake Tahoe, Pollock Pines, and culminating in Placerville.

Participation Options:

  • Horse Riders:
    • Full Trip: $110 for members; $120 for non-members
    • Daily Fee: $30
  • Wagon Passengers:
    • Full Trip: $240 for members; $250 for non-members
    • Daily Fee: $60
  • Family Rate (Full Trip Only):
    • Horse Riders: $400 (up to 4 people)
    • Wagon Riders: $400 plus $100 for each additional wagon rider

All participants are required to register and adhere to the “Rules of the Road,” which emphasize safety and authenticity. Period-appropriate attire from the 1840s to 1870s is mandatory, and all wagons or buggies must be authentic to the era, with no rubber tires or plastic components.

Additional Information:

  • Meals: Participants can provide their own food or opt for a catered service available from May 31 through June 4, 2025. The catered option includes two hot meals and a bag lunch daily. Reservations and payment for meals should be made in advance. Note that meals for the final days (June 5-7) are not included in the catering service.

  • Evening Activities: Each evening features a meeting where the Wagon Master discusses the day’s journey and provides instructions for the following day. These gatherings often include storytelling, music, and other entertainment, fostering camaraderie among participants.

  • Shuttle Service: A daily shuttle service is available for a $10 fee to assist in moving vehicles to the next stop.
