(March 24, 2025) — Placerville, Calif. — Marshall Medical Center has initiated construction on a new protective awning over its ambulance bay, aiming to enhance patient comfort during transfers in adverse weather conditions. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on January 9, 2025, at the hospital’s main campus.​Instagram

Siri Nelson, President and CEO of Marshall Medical Center, emphasized the project’s significance, stating, “This project has been in the works for a long time, and it’s going to provide a covered entrance for anybody who comes into the hospital via an ambulance.”​

The addition of the covered ambulance bay addresses longstanding concerns about patients and first responders being exposed to rain and snow during emergency arrivals. Nelson highlighted the community’s role in bringing this project to fruition, noting that the initiative reflects “a true word of connection and passion between our community and our organization.”​

The project has been supported by significant contributions from donors, including George Carpenter and Jim Carter, underscoring the community’s commitment to enhancing local healthcare infrastructure.​

Marshall Medical Center, founded 65 years ago through a community-driven campaign, continues to evolve to meet the needs of El Dorado County residents. The hospital offers a range of services, including a nationally accredited Cancer Center affiliated with UC Davis, and has been recognized for its stroke care by U.S. News & World Report. ​Marshall

The construction of the covered ambulance bay is part of Marshall’s ongoing efforts to provide exceptional care and improve patient experiences, reinforcing its mission to serve the community with compassion and excellence.
