El Dorado County (Aug 30, 2024, 2024) – The Republican Women of California – South Lake Tahoe (RWC-SLT) have stepped forward with a generous $1,000 donation to the South Lake Tahoe Police K-9 Association. The funds will directly support Officer Cory Wilson and his K-9 partner, Rocky, enhancing the K-9 unit’s capabilities in drug enforcement, search and rescue, and tracking fleeing suspects—critical tasks that bolster public safety.

“Republican Women of CA-SLT is pleased to donate $1,000 to this worthwhile organization,” stated RWC-SLT President Karen Imhoff. “Officer Cory Wilson and K-9 Officer Rocky work long and hard for the citizens of South Lake Tahoe. It is our honor to show our support of their efforts and successes.”

The donation is particularly impactful as it helps cover various expenses, such as specialized training, equipment, and, most notably, veterinary bills for retired K-9s. While in active service, the police department funds the medical needs of the dogs. However, once retired, the responsibility shifts to the K-9 Association, which faces significant costs due to the dogs’ extended lifespans of 12-14 years.

Rocky, a six-year-old Belgian Malinois and Shepherd mix, has been partnered with Officer Wilson for five years, serving the community with dedication and skill.

Imhoff also mentioned that the RWC-SLT meetings will feature discussions on the upcoming City Council elections and ballot propositions, inviting registered Republican members to participate. The next meeting is scheduled for September 12 at 11:30 a.m.
