PLACERVILLE, Calif. — Russell Motorsports Inc. announced Thursday that it has entered a partnership with NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson and his Kyle Larson Racing operation to co-promote the annual Hangtown 100 at Placerville Speedway, with the two-night event set for Nov. 14–15. Both nights will again feature the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midgets, with Wingless BCRA Lightning Sprints rounding out the racing card.

The move formalizes Larson’s expanding role at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds — he will serve as a co-promoter and is slated to compete as he seeks another Hangtown victory. “It’s really special to be part of an event that means so much to me. Placerville Speedway is a place where my family and I grew up going to, not just as fans, but to race,” Larson said in the track’s announcement.

Scott Russell of Russell Motorsports said the partnership is intended to build the Hangtown 100 into an even larger regional draw while preserving the event’s roots. “We are excited to continue growing the Hangtown 100 and working with Kyle Larson to make that happen,” Russell said, thanking original promoter Matt Wood for creating the event. Matt Wood called Larson’s involvement “the best thing that could happen” for the race’s future.

The Hangtown 100 has quickly become one of the speedway’s marquee dates since its 2019 debut — Larson won the inaugural 100-lap feature and repeated as a winner in 2023. With last season’s rain-related cancellation, Larson enters Novembers’ event as the defending winner. Race organizers are offering two-night packages and single-night tickets through the event website; pit gates open at noon with grandstand gates at 4 p.m. on race days.

Local economic and fan impacts: The Hangtown 100 typically draws midget- and sprint-car fans from across Northern California and neighboring states, an audience that benefits hotels, restaurants and vendors in Placerville during the fairgrounds’ off-season. Promoters say pairing a national-level headliner and a local promoter helps keep the event rooted in the community while offering a larger, more marketable platform for sponsors and regional motorsports tourism.
