Directed by Jamie Van Camp, this year’s performance marks a new collaboration between Falcon’s Eye Theatre and the American River Conservancy, which manages Wakamatsu Farm. Van Camp previously directed Gold Hill Samurai at the farm during the WakamatsuFest150 celebration in 2019. “It’s an honor to return to this beautiful, historic site and bring Shakespeare to life under the open sky,” Van Camp said.

Twelfth Night follows the journey of Viola, who, after being shipwrecked and separated from her twin brother, disguises herself as a man named Cesario. The play unfolds with mistaken identities, romantic entanglements, and comedic misadventures, all underscored by themes of love and identity.GreenStage

Adding to the ambiance, local musician Jillian Secor and her ensemble will provide live musical accompaniment, featuring sea shanties and poignant dirges that enhance the maritime setting of the play.

Event Details:

  • Location: Wakamatsu Farm, 941 Cold Springs Road, Placerville, CA 95667

  • Dates: Thursday, May 8 – Sunday, May 11

  • Time: Performances begin at 7 p.m.; gates open at 6 p.m. for food and wine

  • Seating: Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets

Food and wine will be available for purchase before each performance, offering guests an opportunity to enjoy local refreshments in a scenic outdoor setting.

Wakamatsu Farm holds historical significance as the site of the first Japanese colony in the United States, established in 1869. Today, it serves as a community space for cultural and educational events, managed by the American River Conservancy.
